About this publication
The 170 Years of the Associative Movement of Graphics Industries is an edition of the APIGRAF, composed of two volumes and a packaging box. In the first volume, Cláudia Figueiredo, researcher at the IHC – Instituto de História Contemporânea da NOVA-FSCH, studies and maps the graphic associative movement, since its origin, in the Sociedade de Socorro dos Tipógrafos Portuenses and in the Lisbonense Typographic Association (both created in 1852), until the APIGRAF, “the heir to a legacy of 170 years of associative struggle for the interests of industry”, as the author says. In the second, we present a review of the history of the arts and graphic industries in Portugal, from its beginnings to the present, listing several areas of particular importance, in a study also by Claudia Figueiredo that witnesses the dynamism of the sector. This volume includes a photographic essay by Paulo Catrica, accompanied by a text of his own, as well as an article by Jaume Casals, a deep expert of this industry, entitled “Perspective to 10 years (2024-2033) of the future of the graphic industry”.
